August Birchbox

It’s Birchbox time again. I’m updating this a little late again this month but I wanted to make sure I actually got to use all of the items before reviewing it. Plus, I still have not even received my September box so I might as well blog about August…

Anyways, last month’s box wasn’t too bad. I got a few nice things and definitely put them to use. One of the biggest and most noticeable items was obviously the Schick razor. I was pretty surprised to see this but always think it’s a great idea when shaving companies do promotions like this. I remember getting them when I was a teenager and being hooked to that brand for years. So, bravo to Schick for that one! I have used it a few times and it’s definitely a great product and I’m sure they’ll cross my mind the next time I go shopping.

On the reverse side, one of the tiniest Birchbox items I’ve ever received was in last month’s box as well. It was the Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream. I really wasn’t sure what to do with this tiny tube at first. After doing some reading, I’ve learned that it’s a multi-use cream. Pretty much whatever you need it for it’ll work. I used it on my hands a few days when the seasons started to change and it worked well. Unfortunately the tube in the box was so tiny… and I lost it within a week!

Another hand related item in the box last month was Caldrea Hand Soap. I’d never heard of this one either so I was interested. I received the Ginger Pomelo fragrance and have been using it on and off since getting the box. Overall, it’s an okay soap. If you have dry hands I definitely wouldn’t recommend it. It doesn’t have much of a moisturizing quality – at all. But, I don’t have that problem so it’s been working nicely for me. The scent I have is a combination of ginger and grapefruit which makes for an overall very refreshing smell.

Next up (and one of the first things I tried in my box) is the Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in Stargazer. I was pretty interested in trying this out since I haven’t used an eye liner in ages. I really don’t have a good reason for not using eye liner other than I’m lazy in the mornings! Yes, it’s just one more step but it can be a pretty tedious one at 6am. Anyways, I gave this (full size… which is impressive) one a try. It’s definitely well worth the Birchbox monthly fee and I was happy to finally see a worthwhile sample in my box!

Last up for this month was Juicy Couture Viva la Juicy La Fleur… seriously, why do perfume companies have to make the most ridiculously long names? Anyways… I’m always excited to try out the perfume samples every month. It’s probably the main thing I look forward to with getting my Birchbox and if you’ve read my reviews on Birchbox before than you know a bad perfume can ruin my whole experience haha. Anyways, this one was a good one! Their site describes it having fruity top notes with honeysuckle, gardenia and jasmine. This blew me away. Honeysuckle and gardenia are on my top “I will never, ever wear that” list… right next to water lily. But, somehow when combined with fruity fragrances and jasmine… I like them? Who knew!

Anyways, there you have it! My August Birchbox! Hopefully I’ll eventually get my September box and I’ll have another review up shortly!
