My Weekend in Jail?

July 18, 2012

I thought I’d kick off my Boston posts (yes, there’s going to be MANY) with where I stayed. Typically, when traveling, I just pick the usual Hampton or similar hotel and go with it. Does it really matter where you stay after all? Well, the more I got looking around for my imprompto trip to Boston the more I realized that Boston wasn’t like other cities and neither were their hotels. Yes, I found their boring Hilton, Hampton, etc. hotels but there were others… more interesting others. And then I ran into this gem…

The Liberty Hotel. Different right? Well, this beauty was actually a jail! Anyone who knows me in person, or maybe you’ve noticed a little on here, I love anything I can read up on. Give me some good interesting history or facts and you’ll make my day. No, seriously. My most recent and favorite random facts? How tornadoes and hurricanes form and did you know that Tasmanian devils have pouches like kangaroos? Seriously, I’m full of random facts like this. I love it! On any given day I use google/wiki to look up at least two or three things. Anyways… now that I’ve lost you in that rant…

Back to the Liberty! Their website has a good amount of information about the jail and you can also find some information here. It’s all very interesting and there’s only a few rooms left in the actual jail section but nonetheless it made for an interesting place to stay. Oh, and did I mention it’s right by the T and Beacon Hill. Perfection? Yes. So, moral of the story… if you ever go to Boston definitely check out the Liberty Hotel. It was an absolutely amazing place to stay. Great location, great service and just overall the perfect place for my perfect vacation!

1) We got champagne during check in 2) One of the jail cells 3) The view from the bridge across the street… oh, new home I can’t wait! 4) A little Hendrick’s and tonic (channeling my inner Emily) on Saturday night 5) Lobby perfection!  6) Enjoyed a lovely bath on my last night. Did I mention they had Molton Brown for their mini toiletries. Oh, perfect!

Make sure you check in the rest of the week for my other Boston posts! I’m not sure how many I’ll end up with now but I have a lot of great places to share!  And, I’ll leave you today with a few photos from the bridge across the street. Seriously Boston, why are you so perfect!
