Bahamas Trip : Day Three – Nassau

April 25, 2012

The third day of my trip was definitely the day I was looking forward to the most. The previous day of relaxing was definitely needed but after that I was ready to go! We arrived at Nassau early that morning, got off the boat and took a smaller boat to Blue Lagoon. It was absolutely gorgeous and most of my video is actually from the trip over or back. Our port was in Nassau, so on the way to Blue Lagoon we had a chance to see most of Paradise Island as well. And, well as you can tell by the name, it’s paradise. Just gorgeous!

At the beginning of the video, you can see the view from the ship and then I also did a little taping on our way over to Blue Lagoon which you can see the water was absolutely amazing! You’ll also see Atlantis in a few shots as well. After that, there’s a few clips of the Dolphin Encounters area. Their “tank” area was amazing. I was very impressed with everything there. I loved how the dolphins were kept in the actual ocean water rather than enclosed tanks like other places. It was all very real and natural and I love that. You can tell the dolphins are truly happy there. That was honestly one of my biggest concerns when I was looking into doing this. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to swim with dolphins like you wouldn’t believe but I’d never want to force an animal to do something or support unethical treatment of an animal and I did not feel that this dolphin encounter did either of these things. It was actually cute how the dolphins would randomly disappear and the trainers would tell us they were just doing a lap around the area or check out a fish or something. They were completely free to do what what they pleased but always came back to play with us because they knew fish were involved!

After swimming with the dolphins, we went to their private beach and just enjoyed the area for a little while. We also had a chance to find an even smaller private beach on the other side of the cay which was absolutely gorgeous and I ended up being 1 of 5 people on the beach! It was absolutely beautiful… seriously, a dream! Once we had a little time there, we headed back to the boat, enjoyed a relaxing departure, had an amazing dinner then decided to make a quick stop by the white party which was pretty interesting. Best part of the night was definitely the fact that they did a shout out for my company!

For more information about the dolphin encounter, definitely check out their site here. I just spend over an hour reading through all of their things. It’s a super interesting site and definitely make sure you check out their cay’s history! You’ll notice in my video above that I have a strange, old tower in some of the video clips and they actually go into some detail about the cay and back when pirates were in the area! Crazy stuff but a super interesting read! Also, if you happen to read into their dolphin information make sure you check out some of their details! The famous dolphin from Flipper actually lives there. As for my swim, my main two dolphins that you’ll see in the video were Nina and Miss Merlin (I believe… my memory isn’t the best haha) and we also did a dolphin push with (once again, I think this is right…) Princess and Soca.  Also, like I’ve said before, it’s my first time doing video so excuse to poor quality… especially in the dolphin video! It’s pretty tricky trying to video tape, watch dolphins, and swim all at once!
