Sanibel Harbor 2010

It’s finally here! My cruise! I know I’ve hinted and mentioned the cruise on a few posts the last few months but just never got around to actually writing up a blog about it. I’ve been super excited about the whole trip (minus the flights – I hate flying.) but haven’t posted much about it because I didn’t have many details. Why? Well, I actually WON my trip!

As you may, or may not, know I’m a store manager for a large retail company. My job can be a challenge. Just a few weeks ago, I actually had to go dumpster diving with an associate because some important things were accidentally thrown away. Yea, a real challenge. But, every once in a while the company will throw something amazing our way and it’s worth while. This past holiday season was no exception. We had many contests going on throughout the company and guess whose store met and exceeded company expectations! Yea, you guessed it! Mine! Since this was my first year as store manager during the holiday season, I was beyond excited. Unfortunately, due to some other stores not meeting their expectations (which was a requirement for this contest) I was lead to believe that no one won any prizes. I sadly came to terms with this and moved on.

Fast forward one month. I get a call from my boss about basic business stuff. At the end of the conversation he goes, “Oh, by the way, congratulations on winning the cruise!” Confused, I replied telling him that I thought no one won because not all the requirements were met. He insisted we did. We hung up… I still didn’t believe him. Two days later, I get an email confirming – WE WON! My assistants got a travel voucher and I won an all expense (seriously EVERYTHING – flights, cruise, drinks!) paid trip to the Bahamas! Many emails, calls, confusion between the travel agent and cruise line later… and I will be on my way to the gorgeous Bahamas this Monday. I’m thrilled!

In celebration of my trip, I decided to dedicate all of next week to vacation, summer, Bahamas, or nautical themed posts! I know many people have spring breaks going on or coming up and even if you don’t summer really is just around the corner!

So, I hope everyone has a wonderful week. For more real time updates on what I’m up to during my trip check out my facebook or twitter!
